About Rupanyup Major Events

Rupanyup Major Events (RME) was founded in 1995 by a next generation farming community as an opportunity to raise funds to support local projects whilst engaging in social events that encourage connectivity and support within the agricultural community of Western Victoria.

Over the last 15 years the RME has raised over $250,000 to support local projects and infrastructure.

Barley Banquet

The Rupanyup Barley Banquet is a significant annual community and charity event organised by Rupanyup Major Events.
It is a major fundraiser for the local Rupanyup community as well as an important and unique social outing that promotes agriculture and rural Victoria.
From its conception by a group of young farmers in 1995 to date, Rupanyup Major Events Barley Banquet has raised in excess of $250,000 for local projects and community services.

The Barley Banquet is a black tie event held in a local farmers barley paddock, attracting a mature audience of around 400 people from all over the region and beyond.

Australia Day Breakfast

The second biggest date in the Rupanyup Major Events calendar is the Australia Day Breakfast. Each year the RME come together down at the Jack Emmett Memorial Billabong to provide a delicious BBQ breakfast for more than 200 people. After breakfast all guests are formally welcomed then the presentations of the Rupanyup Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever of the year are made.

Monies raised by RME over the previous 12 months are then presented as donations to local community groups. Every year RME invite a guest speaker to make a presentation on what it means to be involved with a rural community such as Rupanyup.

Charity Work

Generous donations by RME have contributed to Rupanyup community groups over the past 20 years, some of which include:

  • Kindergarten
  • Primary School
  • Football & Netball Club
  • Lions Club
  • SES
  • Bowls Club
  • Hospital
  • Recreation Reserve

RME have also donated to the Starlight Foundation, McGrath Foundation and to the Tasmanian Bushfire Recovery.
